Paul W. Bennett, et al. Canada. A North American Nation. McGraw-Hill Ryerson Ltd., 1989.
From a World War II poster competition sponsored by the R. Hoe & Company, a New York-based manufacturer of printing presses that dated back to 1805. They also made circular saws and saw blades. Their fortunes declined after the war, and the company was acquired by the Pacific Saw and Knife Company of Portland, Oregon in 1984. The company then became the Pacific/Hoe Saw & Knife Company, which was in turn bought by Simonds International in 2009.
