Despite dragging out the previous decades Firebird I for the introductory promotional photo, the Pontiac Firebird was the sister car to the Chevrolet Camaro, sharing a common platform and many parts.
The Firebird could have been the XP-833 Banshee shown below. It was a two seat sports car which could have rivalled the Corvette, indeed the 1964 show car features similar lines to the 1968 (third generation) Corvette.
