This 1936 CCM Cleveland bicycle belonged to Harry Scherback, born November 1892 and died January 1975. Harry immigrated to Sault Ste. Marie, Canada from the Ukraine in 1913. He married his wife, Annie Kolisnyk, in 1921. Annie was born in 1903 in the Ukraine. Their marriage was arranged by Annie’s brother, Nick, whom Harry met when he worked at Algoma Steel. Harry retired from Algoma Steel in 1957. He never owned a motor vehicle, his primary modes of transportation were bicycle, walking, or bus.
Pulled down from the rafters with the tires refilled with air, the bike worked just fine on a little test ride.
