Goodyear motorcycle tires

1965

1977

Goodyear was still innovating in the late seventies, in the early eighties they got out of the motorcycle business.
However, if you buy an Avon or a Dunlop motorcycle tire today, they're both part of the Goodyear conglomerate.

If you buy an Avon, it's called a "tyre."

(Fond memories of my Road & Track magazines back in the 70's)

I didn’t want to say, but I didn’t like the one I bought in 78, I crashed when the back end slid out unprovoked.

... And your bike was completely destroyed, leaving only the indestructible Teflon Eagle GT intact? Also: does "unprovoked" mean "while parked"? I've heard of that.

It was an old Suzuki T350, turning right at an Intersection. It was the tar and gravel road surface (20 grit sandpaper), so my jeans and jacket were ripped, knee and elbow abraded. The nonfolding pegs saved the bike, I picked it up, went to look for whatever caused the slip, saw nothing. Continued on my way.
