In 1931 Royston Siddens founded a metal casting company in Melbourne, Australia making hardware items for cabinet makers. During WW2 the company expanded into drop forging for military production and postwar, started producing a line of mechanics hand tools under the Sidchrome name.
Eventually the business was passed along to the son, and in 1991 was acquired by Stanley tools. Within a few years the production was moved to Taiwan. The Sidchrome company continues today.
