The advance of electric lighting, 1944

From Matthew Luckiesh.   Light, Vision and Seeing. Second Printing.  D. Van Nostrand Company, Inc., 1944.

For comparison purposes, today's white light LED sources can produce over 160 lumens per watt.

Dr. Luckiesh was Director of the Lighting Research Laboratory, General Electric Company, Nela Park, Cleveland.  His research was so seminal that he became known as "the Father of the Science of Seeing."
