A view of the first major exhibition of the American Automobile Club, held at Madison Square Garden in 1900. Despite the signs for Waverley and McKay steam automobiles and the gas-engine Oldsmobile, most of the manufacturers were showing electric vehicles. A report of the time noted a more graceful look to the vehicles, a movement away from the horsedrawn carriage.
