"Bathtub" Triumph, 1958

The enclosed body panels, perhaps inspired by the Vespa and other motorscooters, were not popular.

In all my years of working on Triumphs I never once saw an enclosed bike in the USA. Maybe they didn't even import them? I don't think the Honda Dream was all that popular either although I learned to ride on one.

Due to the wet weather in England, owners had to wipe their bikes dry each day to stop the spread of rust. The "bathtub" bodywork was meant to make the cleaning process quicker and easier.
