Here's a good solid vise with an unusually narrow slide but as they proudly advertise, it's steel.
Simplex was a tool making company out of Woonsocket R.I. that started vise manufacturing under the Simplex-Gray name in 1923. The company was eventually sold (year unknown) to Desmond-Stephen in Urbana Ohio.
