Here’s a big clunky 1/2”drive double ended (non-reversible) ratchet, part of an incomplete socket set I did not buy. I expect the mechanism occupies most of the riveted area. Clunky now, but a huge advance for any mechanic back in the day. Previous post on Walden Tools here.

It can be "reversed" in that the square plug (they call it the "drive plug") can be pushed back and forth to stick out of either end of the ratchet (it has a ball detent on both ends) but Walden called it "non-reversible" I suppose to differentiate it from their more expensive (but less reliable?) reversible ratchets. Given the number of them out there missing their drive plugs, that ratchet with it's plug in and of itself may be a desirable piece ("desirable" being in the eye of the beholder of course).
