I noticed that in the Tatro book; it's an incredibly thorough but quite readable book and it got me to open up a few drawers of my Kennedy chest for the first time in a long time yesterday.

Oh to answer your question, probably because it "works" using it the "wrong" way most of the time. But when it doesn't, it can be catastrophic (on your knuckles) and that's when you learn it for good.

Start again... when the "proper" way becomes critical is when you need the proper wrench.

I’ve been looking at “machine shop fundamentals “ books. It’s one of the better ones.
