Why would a tire valve company need or want to take a half page ad in a motorcycle magazine in the 1950s?

Woods is still the valve of choice on some Dutch and German bicycles. Outside diameter is the same as Schraeder but the inflator thread is the same as Presta. D.

I did not know about Woods.
The rider is checking his tire pressure the same way I do: "Hm. Looks all right."
