Convair XP5Y-1
The Convair XP5Y-1 was the prototype of the R3Y turboprop seaplane, first flown in 1950. It was a fast aircraft, capable of over 400 mph and still holds the crosscontinental record by a seaplane of 403 mph in 1954. Thirteen were built but ongoing reliability problems with the Allison Turboprop engines halted the program. More here.
