Parts of an airplane

Funk & Wagnalls New Practical Standard Dictionary.  Britannica World Langage Edition.  1946, 1957.

Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary
.  Thomas Allen, Ltd., Toronto, 1960.

Not much changed between 1946 and 1960, although "undercarriage" was replaced with "retractable landing gear", the "sliding structure" was succeeded by a fixed, enclosed cockpit,  the aerial mast and wire was replaced with a single radio antenna mast, the "static tube" became the "pitot-static tube", "trimming tabs" became just "tabs" and no mention of radial engines.
