Load o' poles...

Taking a break from hauling telephone poles in British Columbia, 1920.

I think briefly (for as long as I can stand to) about how scary it is to drive a 1960s dump truck full of sand or whatever*, and then I think about automotive brake technology, c. 1920. And then I have to go lie down.

* And my own scary experiences took place on reasonably flat, straight roads. Add the British Columbia forest, with probably terrible road surfaces and grades like the one in the photo or much more so, and I have to get under the sofa, not on it.
