Lock Line pliers by Ross Manufacturing .


Pliers with cutter jaws with an interesting mechanism, the jaws close with a unique cam action, the action of the secondary pivot point locks the jaws grip as the pliers are closed, and increases the pressure of the grip as the jaws approach closure.

 The patent dates to 1945, look at the drawing below to figure out the mechanism..

It's funny how the patent drawing shows typical slip-joint plier jaws holding a nut yet all the examples out there and the sales literature show round jaws gripping round stock. It's like they changed their mind regarding the intended use.
