Luger semi-automatic pistol

The Luger was introduced in 1898, developed from the 1893 Borchardt C93 semi-automatic pistol. Several iterations tested over over the next two years led to it being adopted by the Swiss military in the year 1900 as the Ordonnanzpistole 1900 and the German Navy in 1904.

One of the last of the pretty handguns.

Idle question: Did the Glock open the door to the Ugly Pistol Era, or were most handguns already ugly when it became such a big seller?

I'm not sure what that question means. I pretty much like all guns and a Beretta 92FS is my EDC but if concealment is paramount I'll use a Glock 17 Gen 1 or an S&W M+P 9mm.

As far as that Luger goes, if I see one and the price is right I'll add it to my stable.

Oh, I'm not impugning the Glock's function, or its ugly brothers' either. My objection is merely aesthetic, on account of I'm a mere aesthete. Anyway: the Luger is the best-looking automatic ever, in my humble book.

I was surprised how early semi automatic pistols were developed. I thought the 1911 was an early one!
