Monday Mystery, some sort of ring pliers?

Similar to a wrench/pliers for an oil filter, but only about 2 inches in diameter. Squeezing the handles doesn’t change the diameter much.

I can half convince myself there is/was some text around the pivot but unreadable to me.

Guesses?

Vintage Jar Wrench

A really nice old lid remover for jars. This one is stamped with "1902" and some wording that I can't make out. So, I don't know if 1902 is a model number or the year of production.

This old gadget is in very good vintage condition. The handles are cast iron, the removal ring is steel. It has some wear marks and patina (aka rust.)

Please see all the photo as they show the conditions very well.

This lid remover is 7 1/2" long. The ring is 2 7/8" across when open, about 2 5/8" when closed.

Excellent! Much appreciated. This one was (misleadingly) with the pliers in an antique tool store... I guess we'd need a whole set for different jar sizes!
