Indianapolis Speedway centennial poster

This 23x28" poster was part of the press kit at the 2008 Inaugural Indianapolis Motorcycle GP and depicts the original layout of the track, including the all-important golf course.

Railway action shot, 1882

 A New York, New Haven and Hartford train is just pulling out of the station at Meriden, Connecticut in 1882, this might be one of the very first train action shots taken. The wet glass plate process meant the photographer would have had to develop the image immediately.

 The author, a noted train aficionado, thought this was one of the finest train action shots ever taken, but there must have been a million similar-style train shots taken since. Maybe the original shows more detail but a scan of an old printed page might not be the best reproduction.

Homelite Windlass

Here's a strange thing, a winch powered by a chainsaw power head. From what I've been able to find, they were introduced in the seventies, this one was made in 1989. Probably quite useful occasionally, the only Monday Mystery about this is wondering how they thought they were going to sell enough units to pay for the development!
