Wärtsilä Vasa 46 Diesel engine

Contrasts & Connections.  Finland.  First published in connection with the Finnish Exhibition at the Seville World Fair EXPO '92.
Wärtsilä dates back to 1834 and today is the second largest diesel engine company in the world. The Vasa engine, named after the city in Finland where it was made, was in production from 1977 to 2010.  The 46 suffix denotes the bore size, 460 mm.  You can hear one starting up on Youtube.
