Lt Col. Robert J. Icks, Tanks and Armoured Vehicles. Phillip Andrews Pub. 1945
The Fiat 3000 tank was based on the French Renault tank of WW1, but modified to suit Italian mountain conditions. It was smaller and lighter than the Renault and had a low center of gravity to suit mountainous terrain. It was powered by a Fiat 54 hp engine and armed with one or two machine guns- later upgunned to a 37mm cannon. About 150 were built and some were still being used in WW2.
