The Focke Wulf 19A was designed in the late twenties and was demonstrated extensively around Europe in 1932. Wingspan was 32 feet and power was supplied by two 110 hp Siemens Sh14 radial engines.Flying footage here.
I'm amazed at how futuristic some very early planes were. I'd never seen this one before, seems to fly ok yet apparently was a design dead end. Visually the balance seems all wrong.

Definitely a Frankenstein. I think it was R.J. Mitchell that said 'if it looks right it will fly right' or something like that.

Not really a dead end, it is still regularly exploited today, as the "canard" wing configuration.
Wouldn't the pilots' visibility be blocked by the front wing?
