Logo design 1911


Decals had been invented in the 1850s and had become quite a craze during the later part of the century, so the 1911 logo above on a Silent Grey Fellow must be a decal, but surprisingly to me, the lettering appears to be done by hand.  The photo above came from an old magazine, and the example below was found online, it's definitely hand drawn, quite amateurishly, to my eye.
 The Harley Davidson company was 8 years old when they introduced this model, their first V twin.
