Adler Stromform

This caption claims the only streamlined car in volume production. It was the last car model built by Adler, introduced in January 1937, it was put into production in November. Despite the positive reaction at the introduction, this did not translate into sales, only about 5000 were built before production ended in 1940.
Chrysler Airflow sold 6300 airflows in 1934, 8000 in 1935, 6300 in 1936 and 4600 in 1937, before they gave up the model as a disaster.

Back in the 70's our family had a portable Adler typewriter. Very compact but not what I'd call streamlined.

They built cars, then after the war they decided their future was motorcycles and 8 years later they changed to office equipment. Then in 1957 they were absorbed by Grundig and finally Olivetti. How the mighty have fallen.
