Sounds eerily similar to China today. However we willingly gave our manufacturing capability over in search of greater profits for the 1 percent and inexpensive goods for the rest of us . After all the "American Dream" today seems to be defined entirely as the ability to buy more and more cheap material possessions. It makes one wonder how the future will view what is happening now. I guess I will be dead before the stuff hits the fan so 'carry on' America! Hopefully the next administration will fulfill some promises concerning local production. As Covid has shown it is shortsighted to depend entirely on offshore production in a time of national emergency.
