In 1900 T J Juckes of Wolverhampton formed an engineering company (The Efficient Engineering and Motor Company) that carved out a niche building proprietary engines for cars, boats and motorcycles. They also developed transmissions for motorcycles, supplying thousands for the industry between 1911 and 1925.
As a sideline, he developed a motorcycle of his own design, powered by a 275 cc 2 stroke engine. This sold well and work was started on a 350cc 4 stroke machine. About that time the Efficient Engineering and Motor Company ran into financial difficulties and soon closed. Only nine 350cc motorcycles were built.
