American Helicopters was working on the minimal XA-6, powered by rotor tip pulsejets in 1950-51. The rotor was 27 feet in diameter and featured a tricycle landing gear. Beyond that not much information but I guess it couldn't be labelled a success as it disappeared pretty quick.
