One of my vices is vises, Bugatti

Tula Precision

While perusing the internet and looking for something else, I thought my mind had registered a Bugatti vise in the background of an image somewhere, so did a search and what pops up but these beauties, surely the kings of all clamping devices.   Tula Precision makes these replicas (and scaled down replicas) of the original Ettore-Bugatti designed vices. Note the lack of holddown brackets, the vise is secured by a stud from the bottom, no fasteners to spoil the lines here. Apparently the price is for these is markedly cheaper than an original but I expect no one will be actually using either of them in a working workshop. Here are views of the originals on the original Bugatti workbenches up for auction years ago.

.If these are out of your price range and you would like cast and machine your own, 3D files are available on GRABCAD.

Pictures of the inside of the Bugatti factory are hard to come by , I found the picture of a vise set up in the Bugatti railcar factory in the Rizzoli book, Bugatti by Phillippe Dejean.

The Bugatti Trust has some heavily watermarked images showing the beautiful finish of the originals.

And finally, an original for sale: https://www.bugattipage.com/bsalpart.htm
