Fritz Egli testing one of his Vincent specials in 1969. Egli had started tuning Vincents 10 years after the company folded in 1955, he soon designed and built his own frame to modernize the machine. The frame featured a large diameter tube from the headstock over the engine which served as the oil tank. It worked well and is still being produced today. This particular bike uses a Campagnolo mechanical disc setup on Ceriani forks.

Is Egli's frame being made, for sure? The estimable Patrick Godet made frames, with Egli's cooperation, for mmm I forget when he started, maybe mid-eighties? until Godet kicked the bucket two years ago. It would make me happy to learn that someone has taken over production. Clue me in, please, and thanks for that and for running the nice Egli B/W.

A lottery bike for me for sure. Stunning. Whenever I find a picture of one I post it.
In that picture he is 32 years old and had been modifying Vincents for at least 5 years.
The Godet replica business has been bankrolled from way back by French singer-songwriter Florent Pagny. That, and the high regard its products enjoy may
ensure its survival for a while yet.
