Cool thing about minesweepers is that they were designed on the One-Wrench-Fits-All principle. Every fastener has the same size hexhead. A seasoned navy mechanic can disassemble a minesweeper in less than a day, with just the one wrench, one-handed, while smoking a cigarette.

Probably bronze. I've seen bronze wrenches in use where you really DO NOT WANT sparks. No idea about minesweepers, though.

It's more likely beryllium copper, not brass (that's why it's so nicely forged and not machined; beryllium copper dust can be hazardous).
Are those mouse droppings next to the handle, in front of the sign?
They're there for scale.
