Here is a farm machine I can't figure out, seen at Big Valley, Alberta... An elevated hopper on an cart with an unconventional wheel arrangement... any guesses?

It appears to be a combine harvester that's missing a lot of parts:
Judging by size and previously mentioned lack of support, I don't think it's a hopper so much as a separator, possibly using a vortex arrangement to clean chaff from grain as it passes through. Not sure why that would be necessary though - that usually happens inside of a combine.

Whatever goes into that tank must be pretty light or you'd think the thing would want to topple over.
That's all I got; sorry.
If it’s a combine I think it would be grain in the hopper- however it gets up there.

It's those damn steampunks at it again. Vandalizing useful farm machinery without respect for its admirable purpose.
