An early application for Monsanto's überhybrid super-slippery corn.
From an Air Force report:"Two newly developed silicate estertype hydraulic fluid were considered; Monsanto'sOS-45 ..." For use in the B-58.
I'm curious now. Could this contain sperm whale oil like the General Motors transmission fluid did. As per the NYT 'Transmission Problems in Cars Linked to Ban on Whale Killing' April 17 1975.
