Mercedes Benz at your Studebaker Packard dealer

From 1957 till 1963 Studebaker-Packard imported and serviced Mercedes Benz cars at their dealerships. The company was struggling, Packard made their last car in 1958, Studebaker in 1966. Mercedes was on the rise.

That's interesting; I didn't know that.

I wonder if Studebaker admired Mercedes long before that? In 1953, Studebaker introduced an upside down version of the tri-star logo on their 1953 models. When Mercedes Benz sent them a letter complaining that the similar design infringed on M-B’s logo, Studebaker complied and hastily redesigned their logo. By the following year the tri-star items were gone. Obviously, no bad blood remained, as they partnered up to distribute M-B in the US a few years later

Studebaker always did seem to be on a different page than the "big three"
