The Lockheed Electra was the civilian development of the C-130 Hercules. Several early crashes caused by wings breaking off due to resonance in the outboard engine nacelles resulted in lost sales and only 172 were made. Further developments were the successful P-3 Orion and Aurora maritime patrol planes.
