The 500 cc Norton International, upgraded postwar with Roadholder forks, the plunger suspension had appeared in 1938. This was the last model before the Featherbed frame version of 1951. Photos of a nice one here.

On the linked site (and oh momma isn't that a pretty bike!), the spec list alleges 29 horsepower and a top speed well within sniff of what a Yamaha SR500 will pull.* I guess my idle question to knowledgable persons is, was the Model 30 Norton's most high-performance pushrod bike, aimed at fellas who couldn't afford an International?
* Per that spec list, the Nortoon weighed 60lbs more than the 5-speed, OHC SR500. It's horrible to contemplate, but could the older bike's mfgr have ... exaggerated ... the bike's performance details?

DUH. I didn't see the perfectly clear statement that the Model 30 is an OHC. This explains quite a bit.
