Missouri Pacific switcher, 1870

George Abdill; Rails West, Bonanza Books, 1960
This little engine was typical of a yard engine in the 1870-80 period. #305 was built by the Rogers Locomotive and Machine Works of Paterson New Jersey. The cab is mounted high above the firebox for vision and the tender is small and low, hence the elevated mounting frame of the rear headlight.
