James W Packard started building cars in 1898 in Warren Ohio. The single cylinder cars were successful enough that in 1903, the company moved to Detroit to set up in a larger factory. A new car was designed with a four cylinder engine and a body of aluminum over wood body.
This car was bought by Peter MacEwen of Goderich Ontario. Richard Teague, president of American Motors owned it for many years before donating it to the Henry Ford Museum where it is today.

"It runs like a Packard" was a phrase used by guys in my family in the'40s. The ultimate compliment for a well tuned engine.
