Whiffling Clara

In 1931 experiments with supercharging were made with the Velocette KTT. The Foxwell supercharger sat low and forward. The first version had the supercharger blowing through the carb, adding complexity to the whole fuel system as the tank and float bowl had to be pressurized also. The system was removed for the TT. The next year the system was changed, this time having the air sucked through the carburetor. This required a reservoir (triangular housing by the rear wheel) for the pressurized charge and dampen the intake pulses. During the race a rocker broke, causing the bike to retire. The experiements were not carried further.
