This is a 1960 concept sketch for the Saab 99 by designer Sixten Sason. He had trained as an artist in Paris, then as an engineer. This was ideal training for design and he found work designing power tools for Husqvarna and vacuums for Electrolux. He also designed several generations of cars for Saab through the fifties. The 99 was his last, introduced in 1968 after he passed away. The sketch suggests an odd little car, the production car is very close to the concept.
This was the first 4 cylinder 4 stroke engine for the company. The car enjoyed niche status in North America but New Englanders adopted them with enthusiasm.

So - then - the first ugly car right? lol. And of course - you bought a 'sob' (because that's what you did a lot when it had mechanical issues). Not a fan. I did like the Volvo 850 before they started to make it into a jelly bean. Oh for the days of the rockets and wings on cars like the 50's and early 60's. lol.
