Can any of youse say with confidence what the bike is? Forks could be post-1940 AJS/Matchless, I guess. Or not.

I'll guess it's a 350cc AJS, just because they were cheaply bought as war surplus and (so I read) pretty ubiquitous in off-road competition.

According to the caption in the November 1993 issue of Classic MotorCycle, it is a 500cc Royal Enfield, a make that Jack Stocker was associated with his whole career.

I gave it a hard look and from that front view, I couldn’t see anything that was identifiable:-)
