April, 1982 Road & Track

The company had already been placed in receivership in February and filed for bankruptcy in October of that year.

That's framing worthy! lol. Priceless. De Lorean could have been the Elon Musk of his day, or will it be - Elon Musk will be he De Lorean of today? Time will tell. Musk walks the edge for sure - but he's got so much money now I don't see anything stopping him.

I was surprised to find out the ad appeared when the company was already in receivership, but I guess magazine lead times got it. I can imagine the conversations...

Typical mag lead time was five weeks. Cutty Sark may have purchased a block (x many ads to run over y months), perhaps around the first of the year, maybe. I was never that close to the advertising side of magazine publishing, so just a guess.
