Hooks

Two old farm use hooks, Left is unknown (possibly home or handmade) but right is from the Oshawa company, the Pedlar People.

The one on the left is from the horse logging era, I don't remember what they called them but you would hook the log choker to these. The swivel allowed the log to roll however it needed to, there os a ring missing from that small hole in the hook that was to keep your fingers safe when hooking/unhooking

That does make sense, I figured the small hole in each was a attachment for a spring latch to help keep the hitch secure. Typically I think those things last about 7 minutes...
