Auth Chime

The steel cover from an old Auth chime:


Compared to today's ubiquitous plastic offerings, I think it's an elegant design.  It was probably painted originally.


The Auth Electric Company was established in 1892, remaining in the founding family's hands until the 1970s, when it was bought and sold by three successive mini conglomerates.  In 1990, two of the company's lines were acquired by other companies, and the chimes division was sold separately to Florence Manufacturing (a maker of mail boxes) which then became Auth-Florence.
