We used to make things in this country. #11: O'Keefe Brewing Company Limited, Toronto, Ontario

The Picton Gazette, May 28, 1947
Eugene O'Keefe was a banker, of all things, and he founded O'Keefe & Company in 1864, the first brewery to produce lager beer.  Both Carling and O'Keefe breweries were acquired by Canadian Breweries in the 1930's, but allowed to operate independently until becoming Carling O'Keefe in 1973.  The company was subsequently purchased by an Australian concern and merged with Molsons in 1989, and ultimately with Coors to form Molson-Coors.  It's been a long time since you were last able to order an O'Keefe's lager.
