A flare for the dramatic: Miro-Flare
Made by the Miro-Flex Company of Wichita, Kansas. From what I can find, they were marketed for law enforcement and truck use.
The "Miro-Flex" name was first registered as a U.S. trademark in 1938 ("Portable Reflecting Road Safety Signals, of the type commonly known as road flares") and, although the trademark expired in 1999, it is still around as a brand for reflectors.
A very similar reflector flare was patented in the U.S. in 1947, but assigned to the Anthes Force Oil Company.
