Vanished Tool Makers: Hugo Berns, Germany



Above, a pair of duckbill pliers from this tool maker.

Hugo Berns was a tool maker in Solingen, Germany whose trademark was "Hubeo."  During World War II, they were one of the suppliers of knives and swords for the Third Reich, but after the conflict they turned to multi-tools and travel kits.  Below, from the web:

I also have one of those travel tool kits made by Hubeo and sold under Abercrombie and Fitch in Germany. I agree with things made long ago that will outlive us all. Too many things made today are throwaway.
