International Harvester started out in 1902 with the merger of the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company and the Deering Harvester Company. The hard times of the 1980's saw a major sell-off of their assets, and the their renaming as Navistar in 1986. The International Harvester name had been sold to Tenneco, and is only used today on that company's CASE IH brand. However, Navistar still uses the "International" brand on their diesel engine and truck product lines.
