The Pioneer Parachute Company began making parachutes for the US military in 1938 as a division of the Cheney Silk Mills in Manchester Ct. 50 years later it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Zodiac Aerospace. That company became part of Airlift Technologies International. and the company continues today.
